DOGS AT THE SANCTUARY:
CLICK HERE TO SEE THE FIRST DOGS
Rusty was picked up by Fabio. He was in the middle of the road on Mellieha
High Street.
He was wearing a blue collar, in good condition, very friendly, which makes
us think he is a lost pet.
Hamish has been with us for 4 months. He was found in the Bellevue area of
Mellieha.
Full of character, good on the lead and would be ideally suited for a home with
limited space.
Spike
Spike is a golden Labrador. He is approximately 3 years old.
He is a friendly chap and is very obedient and is good on a lead. Spike is affectionate
and a typical Labrador in temperament.
Goldie
Goldie is a Labrador cross bitch. She is around 2 years old. Goldie is an energetic
character when she sets out on her walk, but settles down once she is on her
way.
She arrived at the sanctuary with Sherry.
Ben
Ben is the gentleman of the sanctuary; he is a German Pointer, who was rescued
by the government. He is a well mannered, affectionate dog who gets on with
anybody four legged or two! He is obedient and knows how to sit and stay. He
is around 6 years of age.
Candy
Candy is around 2 ½. She looks a little shy sometimes but she has a lovely
nature and enjoys being made a fuss of without getting too boisterous. She is
sociable with other dogs.
Max
Max was picked up Christmas Eve 2004 and was about 12 weeks old.
He has a lovely nature, is good on and off the lead, and well socialized with
people and other dogs.
Coco
Coco is a chocolate Labrador cross about 18 months old. He is a recent addition
to the sanctuary, having been rescued from the Mosta area. Good on the lead
and is an amiable chap with people.
Cappy
Cappy is a coffee and cream cross with a beautiful nature. He’s very friendly
with dogs and people. He is approximately 12 months old. He shares his pen with
Limo and they are great pals.
Limo
Limo was one of our puppies and is about 12 months old. He again has a lovely
nature mixes well with other dogs, and loves people. Limo a tallish sleek dog
hence is name, with possibly a hint of Labrador!
Buster
Buster was thrown out of a car in the South of the Island. He is a German pointer
cross, who does not pull on the lead and could safely be walked by a child.
Very good natured.
Sheba
HOMED
Sheba, Tal Kacca cross was thrown out of a car at Ta’ Qali (February 2005)
which left her traumatized. With love care and attention, she has grown into
a happy healthy friendly small dog.
Noah
Noah is our mascot dog. He was found in a discarded oven along with some other
puppies. He has lovely markings and is about 12 months old.
Noah has a great character and enjoys both dog and human interaction.
Sherry
Sherry was brought in from the Paola area. She is approximately 2 years old,
with primarily black and white markings and tan points. Good natured and lead
trained. She is Sam’s pen partner.
Sam
Sam was rescued from the Mghartab area, and had an injured leg. X rays showed
no damage and with rest he is now back to full health. He is a medium sized
dog, who is good natured and easy to handle.
Danny
HOMED
Danny a pure bred Dalmatian about 5 years old. He was found in the Paradise
Bay area, at the beginning of summer. Obviously a lost or abandoned pet as he
is perfectly house trained and good on the lead.
Mandy was found in distress at Ta’ Qali, with her puppies dead in a bag by the side of the road. She is about 18 months old; she is a lovely natured dog, but does not like raised voices.
Tom
Tom was picked up in the San Gwann area in very good condition. We guess he
is about 18 months to two years old, and would need a fit person to help him
enjoy his walks as he is very energetic, but would make a lovely family pet.
Tammy
GONE
TO GERMANY
Tammy is one of the newest arrivals. She is around 9 months old and was found
on the Santa Maria estate. She is a friendly nice sized family dog. At some
stage she has been well cared for as she was found in good condition.
Trixie
Trixie was brought to us by the animal ambulance with 3 very young puppies.
She is a beautiful natured small dog, who would make an ideal companion for
a mature couple/person. She is very obedient on the lead.
The Valletta girls Katie and Penny
These two gentle little dogs were as you can guess found in Valletta. They surprised us with 16 puppies between the two of them. They come as a pair, so would be ideal for a mature owner who has the time for two ladies who enjoy the quiet life.
Polly Image to follow.)
Polly was found wandering on a farm. The animal rights group was asked to collect her and she was brought into us in September. A young dog who has settled quickly.
Bubbles was a regular face around Mellieha as a stray for long time until he was knocked down and broke his leg. It has now been pinned and plated, but is still very fragile.
Fly
Fly was picked up outside the sanctuary; he was hanging around with the workman,
hence his name! His is primarily Labrador and around 3 years old. A strong friendly
dog that would need a garden, and plenty of exercise.
Maddison had been living a rough life at the Cirkewwa ferry terminal and was brought into the sanctuary as she was in a poor state. She is a big strong dog; beautiful natured but would need a home with a large garden. Lead trained and obedient to the call.
Sophie
Sophie is a more mature dog age but acts much younger than her
years. She was in a loving home for many years, but sadly her owner passed away,
and she’s been with us 8 months. Not a bad bone in her body, and surely
she should enjoy the rest of her life in a caring home.
Pretty Image to follow.
Pretty arrived at the sanctuary with four puppies. She was a little shy at first
and a little bit worse for wear. She is now much healthier, and has a lovely
nature. She also talks to you! Although a little timid when she goes for her
walks with time and love her confidence on the lead will improve.
Nicky
HOMED
Nicky is a young dog that came to us after being knocked down and left in the
road. It has taken her quite a while to trust us and although she is still very
timid on the lead, she enjoys running around with the other youngsters when
they are let out for a romp.
Olive was found tied to the sanctuary gate on the 30th October. She is in immaculate condition and has obviously been well cared for. She is around 12-18months old. We think she is either mother or sister to Tina. She has a very good nature and loves being made a fuss of.
Tina arrived at the sanctuary gates with Olive on 31st Oct. Hence our assumption
that she is related to Olive. They obviously know one another. She too is in
tiptop condition, and also around the same age. She is a little more timid than
Olive. She walks perfectly on the lead, and is well behaved.
Twiggy was picked up form Mellieha's Borg Olivier Street at around 10pm on the 30th November 2005. She was horrifically undernourished. A most docile and beautiful nature, she flourished with loving care.
